"Emotional Development"


 Emotion:

•Emotion is derived from the Latin word “remove” which means “stirred up” or "to excite".

According to the American Psychological Association (APA), emotion is defined as "a complex response pattern, consisting of experiential, physiological elements, and behavioral."

Types of Emotion:

There are two main types of emotion:

1. Positive emotion

2. Negative emotion

Characteristics of emotions:

•The core of an emotion is feelings. 

• Emotional experiences are associated with certain instincts or biological drives.

• Emotions are the products of perception. 

•Every emotional experience involves several physical and physiological changes in the organism. 

•The basic ways of expressing emotions are inborn and it develops through maturation. 

• Emotions rise abruptly and die slowly.

• The same emotion can be aroused by several different stimuli.

• Emotions have the quality of displacement.

3. SCHOOL

4. THE TEACHER

5. PARENTAL OUTLOOK

6. SOCIAL STATUS

7. MENTAL ABILITY

8. WILL POWER AND 

9. ECONOMIC STATUS

Emotional development:

Emotional development is a process by which a child develops from a dependent to a fully functioning adult and applies to most life forms.

Emotional development refers to the ability to recognize, express, and organize feelings at different stages of life and to have empathy for the emotions of others.

Stages of Emotional Development:

There are four main stages of emotional development 

1. Infancy

2. Childhood (Early or Late Childhood). 

3. Adolescence

4. Adulthood

Factors:

3. Training:

The Role of Teachers in Children's Emotional Development 

1) There should be adequate provision for various co-curricular activities for the full expression and outlet of the emotional energies of the children.

2) The teaching methodology and curriculum should be dynamic, progressive, and child-oriented.

3) Children should get the desired love and sympathy from teachers. Their individuality should be respected and their differences recognized.
